Some Background

In HTML, links look like that (HTML is the source code of the web pages):

<a href=”http://www.linksdofollow.com”> this is a link to LinksDofollow.com</a>

This is an ‘a’ tag which tells the browser to display a link to the address given in the same tag as the value of the ‘href’ parameter.

And this is how it looks like in the browser:

this is a link to LinksDofollow.com

But ‘a’ tags may have other parameters. One such parameter is ‘rel=nofollow’. The ‘nofollow’ parameter is not seen and does not affect the way the browser shows the link. You can only see it if you look at the HTML source of the page. The reason for putting this parameter in a link is to tell the search engines that this link should not be “counted”. This means that when Google sees such link it doesn’t give the target website any additional value because of it.

This is how nofollow would like in the HTML source (unseen when looking at the webpage it self):

<a href=”http://www.linksdofollow.com” rel=”nofollow”> this is a link to LinksDofollow.com</a>

Commenting in blogs for incoming links

An easy way to get back links to your website is commenting in blogs. When you add a comment to blogs, there is a field in the form that lets you add your website. When your comment is published, a link to your website appears. Since many people use this feature to post spam comments, most of the blogs now use the ‘nofollow’ tag. Posting a comment with a link in these blogs does not help with search engine ranking. In order to post comments with links that do count and help in improving the rank, you’ll need to find ‘dofollow’ blogs.

What are dofollow blogs?

‘dofollow’ blogs are blogs that do not have the ‘nofollow’ parameter in the link that is posted with the comment. There is no tag called ‘dofollow’ and you will not see it in the HTML source.

How do I find dofollow blogs ?

There are several ways to find these blogs:

1. Search for blogs in Google, and look at the HTML source before commenting to check that there is no ‘nofollow’ tag in the comments.

This is a very hard task. Most blogs have ‘nofollow’ in their commenting systems. Looking at the html source manually takes a lot of time.

2. Subscribe to websites that post lists of dofollow blogs (like this one).

This is a better way to fing blogs, although you might be looking for blogs on specific subjects that are not found here.

3. Use the software that we use to find blogs and post in this website.

This is probably the most effective way to find such blogs. The software accepts a keyword, finds blogs with this keyword in search engines, and filters out the nofollow blogs. For finding 10 blogs that are ‘dofollow’ this software may go through hundreds of blogs in several minutes and filter out all the nofollow blogs. Doing this manually (as in option 1) would take days (we wrote this software ourselves after actually spending days looking for dofollow blogs for a specific subject for one of our customers).

How to comment, what to write ?

When you go to comment in a blogs, it is important that you read the article, and think of an interesting thing to say. It is important that your comment will add something to the article so it would not be considered as spam. Most of the blogs are moderated, which means, they look at your comment before posting it. Saying something like “Great Article”, “Great Website”, “I loved your post”, “Thanks for writing” will all be considered spam and would probably not be published.

So Don’t Spam.
